About Me
I'm a small-town girl from Mississippi and there are two things that I enjoy doing: writing and helping others. As a little girl, I used writing to express myself. I kept a diary (as so many of us do) and I wrote poems. I was introduced to journalism in high school and joined the newspaper staff. I earned a BA degree in journalism and psychology and contributed to my college newspaper. I achieved my goal of working at a magazine shortly after college when I landed a position at a local magazine in Atlanta. I went from assisting the Editor in Chief to being the Editorial Assistant. I gained a lot of experience and met an array of people along the way. Since that chapter in my life has ended, I've decided to explore other options. I am very interested in utilizing my skills to enhance the lives of others.
In college, my passion for helping others led me to become a Resident Assistant where I was able to utilize my communication and "peer counseling" skills. I developed relationships with my residents and provided them with the information they needed to have a fun, safe, and quality college experience. I also volunteered at the local Boys and Girls Club and served as a mentor through Big Brother/Big Sister. I found this rewarding because I was making a difference while helping the students I worked with. I want to have that feeling and make that difference full time.
I'm excited about the next chapter in my life. I hope you enjoy my site.
